West Branch wasn’t perfect on its way to winning the title at the Lisbon Tournament on Saturday but the Bears weren’t far from it.
West Branch went 5-0 and dropped just one set on Saturday on its way to the tournament title, defeating Camanche 25-19, 25-17 in the title match.
The Bears improved to 11-6 on the season with the 5-0 performance and has now won six of its last seven matches.
West Branch went 3-0 in pool play on Saturday defeating Camanche (21-18, 21-19), Monticello (16-21, 21-16, 15-12) and North Fayette Valley (21-19, 21-10).
The Bears then knocked off host Lisbon 21-14, 22-20 in the semifinals before downing Camanche in the title match.
In the pool play win over Camanche Abby Knoop led West Branch with seven kills while Sophie Nopoulos had four kills and eight assists.
Sydney Lamont had four kills and Claire Bridges had eight digs.
Knoop had 16 kills against Monticello while Abbey Fryauf and Bridges each had three kills.
Nopoulos had 12 assists and DaLana Kron led West Branch with nine digs.
Against North Fayette Valley, Bridges led West Branch with nine kills while Knoop added four.
Vaughn had five assists and three ace serves.
In the semifinal win over Lisbon Knoop and Bridges each had eight kills for West Branch.
Nopoulous had 10 assists and Knoop led with 10 digs.
Knoop had nine kills in the title game win over Camanche while Bridges added five and Fryauf had four.
Kron had 13 digs in the title game while Knoop and Bridges both had three ace serves.
