The duo of Beau Cornwell and Cooper Kabela did its usual damage on Tuesday but it wasn’t quite enough for West Branch to pull off an upset.
Cornwell and Kabela combined for 38 points but West Branch fell to Class 2A ninth-ranked Cascade 45-41 in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Cascade.
Kabela had a game-high 25 points and Cornwell added 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists to pace West Branch.
Freshman Tanner Lukavsky had three points and nine rebounds as West Branch shot just 29 percent from the floor.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for West Branch and dropped the Bears to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in RVC play.
Cascade improved to 5-0 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
