West Branch Begins Challenging Stretch With Loss at No. 12 Cascade

The toughest stretch of the season for the West Branch girls basketball team started on Tuesday with a tough loss.

In its first of three consecutive games against ranked opponents, West Branch fell to Class 2A No. 12 Cascade 51-42 in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional contest in Cascade.

West Branch had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 5-2 on the season and 4-2 in RVC play.

Cascade improved to 6-0 and took over sole possession of first in the RVC North Division at 6-0.

Haley Mullinnix led West Branch with 17 points and had four assists and two steals.

Tatum Koenig added 11 points, four steals and two assists for West Branch while Paige Miller had three steals.

Abby Knoop grabbed eight rebounds for West Branch while travels to 2A top-ranked Regina on Friday and hosts No. 11 Camanche on Monday.
